Whether you’re a maximalist, a minimalist or anything in between, these staple fashion pieces are guaranteed to be your best friends while putting together any outfit.

The Little Black Dress

Made famous by Coco Chanel in the 1920s, the Little Black Dress has made its ways into every wardrobe and collection. A timeless classic cemented into every wardrobe after Audrey Hepburn solidified its position in 1961 after Breakfast at Tiffany’s. The famed Little Black Dress stays stylish, adaptable and can dressed up or dressed down depending on the occasion. While numerous attempts have been made to reinvent this classic, the fundamental idea of the LBD has remained unchanged.

Blazers

Underestimated in terms of versatility and hoe gorgeous they look, blazers are a must-have in every wardrobe. Blazers, as opposed to popular opinion, are not masculine. Pair a blazer over a dress and sits pretty regardless. Suggestive to have a blazer wardrobe for different moods, events, seasons, and pairings. Blazers are the one piece that can complete an outfit and dress up a simple outfit, transforming into classy and elegant. Once you understand the shape and length of blazers that suits your body type you’re set. All that may change between different fashion seasons and eras is the shoulders getting wider, the waits being nipped in some more or even less. But the blazer remains equally essential through all changes in the fashion world. Even though slightly priced higher, purchasing a blazer to last is equivalent to an investment. Style it with pants, jeans and a tee, a dress or even a tight fitted skirt. Take your pick between options ranging from the tuxedo, the boyfriend blazer, the classic suit style. A suit or blazer in a masculine style can look great with a feminine touch, and can be worn like a uniform.

With the rise of punk and grunge in the 1980s, the appeal that leather jackets carry with them has increased even more. Now, they have transformed into a classic item worn by both men and women. Leather jackets give outfits an edgy touch and can be dressed both up and down. Additionally, it improves with time and wear, taking on a special patina.

Denim has undergone a paradigm shift because of companies like Calvin Klein, Gloria Vanderbilt, and Jordache, which elevated the fabric to the status of a luxury fashion item. Acid wash and stone wash jeans first gained popularity in the 1980s, while the loose and distressed denim looks gained popularity in the 1990s. Skinny jeans took over at a point and now wide legged jeans are in fashion. High-waisted, low-waisted, and even mid-waisted jeans or blue denim jeans, coloured denim jeans, ripped denim jeans, the list goes on.
